by Terry Donnelly, Maeve Binchy
I have been wanting to read this book forever since this book refers to characters that are in later Binchy novels. How I wish that I had stayed away from it. This book is 656 pages. Due to a nasty cold plus fever I had the past couple of days I wondered if perhaps I was being too harsh about this b...
Watched the film - chucked the book!
Maeve Binchy has a marvelous way of weaving story and characters. It might take a bit taking used to her style, but once you do you find yourself looking forward to another title. Finding familiar characters from other books never gets old; like visiting and catching up with old friends.
The first book I read by Maeve I found a bit all-over-the place but I decided to give her another look and now that I am used to her style I really enjoy her stories. I read this one very quickly as I had trouble putting it down. I am now looking forward of reading more of her work.
My first introduction to he writing of Maeve Binchy was her novel Circle of Friends, after which I read The Glass Lake. When I saw that Tara Road was chosen as an Oprah selection, I thought it would be even better.::: Girl Meets Boy :::Ria is a pretty if unspectacular girl. She lives with her widowe...

I liked this book but thought it was your typical women's lit book..thus only three stars. MB is ok to me, but not an author I go out of my way to seek out.
Good read!

"Tara Road" is a weird mixture of a very depressing book (esp. the first h...
The thing I love about Binchy's writing, is that bad things happen to perfectly good people, and in the end things pretty much work out for the best. It's the charm of fiction that bad guys really do get punished and good guys get rewarded. But there's also something kind of clever and sly about h...
