This book has a slow start, that's for sure. A really slow start. I was about halfway through the novel before I finally started to connect with the characters and the story. My biggest complaint, however, is how the author went about world building. Despite dealing with common occurances in supernat...

A great start to the series!Tempting Danger is the first book in The World of the Lupi series by Eileen Wilks. I’m disappointed that I had not discovered this series sooner. I’m going to have a lot of books to catch up on. In Tempting Danger, the main character Lily investigates a murder at a Lupi ...

I really wanted to like this one but I just couldn't. I still forced myself to read it till the end. It was overly descriptive, I get that given the main character's profession it could have reason to be, but most of it felt like filler. The writing was unevenly paced, but dragged more often than no...

4.25 starsThis story takes place in San Diego, which made me really happy. I've only lived in California a year but I already love finding movies or books that are set near my home.Lily is a fantastic, strong, Chinese-American police detective with a gift for sensing magic. Lily kind of reminded me ...

Lily and Rule team up to try to stop a Lupi serial killer. There is a scene with Lily's cat "Dirty Harry" and Rule that is roll on th...

It's missing some things. The whole incident of people coming to see Cullen and then disappearing sounds familiar from a short story somewhere, but she never does describe much about it in this book. She refers to it, but doesn't ever go back to it. Why was she looking for those 2 people? Did she ju...

Eve and Roarke go paranormal. Not that there's anything wrong with that! Although it unquestionably reminded me of a lot of other books, the characters were well drawn and the world building unique enough to keep me engaged.
Caught in a FAB Romance (@TheLoveJunkee)
Tempting Danger is the first book in Ms. Wilks' World of the Lupi series, and it was great! I'm not going to get into all the world-building, but it is contemporary and the existance of werewolves is common knowledge. There are also hints of other supernatural beings, but I was unclear if they were ...

I would've given 3.5 stars, if possible. I wasn't really into this book in the beginning - wasn't interested in reading a "cop story". But, before I could put it down it grew on me. I enjoyed the book quite a bit. I will definitely move on to the next in the series. Grandmother was a very inter...
