Her short fiction and poetry have appeared in various magazines and anthologies. She has published a poetry collection Starting Friction (Mayapple Press, 2008) and founded counterpoise records, where great stories breed with great music to spawn superior entertainment. Smoketown is her debut novel. R/evolution, a novel in stories about reparations and genetics in an embattled U.S. will be released in the fall.

The author dropped me into this novel very smoothly with some really nice worldbuilding and then I was swept along all the way to the end. I was fascinated by the characters: Peru, who was pulled from thin air; Anna, who made her; and Rory, the last MacLaren, up in his aerie, watching it all.

While there were one or two that did not strike a chord, the majority were rather enjoyable.I think the standouts for me are the delightful fairy tale of Lord Ronan’s Shoes and Remember both by Astrid Amara.
