Terri Kelley is the author of dozens of children's books as well as of a collection of poems written to help adults work through difficult times. As a former teacher and reading and writing specialist, she learned what types of books interest kids as well as what areas of interest are in need of good books. This knowledge, coupled with experiences she had growing up, is the basis for many of her characters and stories. Growing up in Copperas Cove, Texas (near Ft. Hood), Terri had a wonderful childhood. She is still in contact with many of the people with whom she went to school there. She spent a large part of her life in Granbury and Tomball, Texas as well and she thinks of all three of these places as home. Her friends and family living in each of these towns have helped encourage Terri's writing. In fact, you'll find some of the characters in her books are modeled after friends and family.Terri is happily married to her best friend, Michael. Together, they live in Oakridge, Oregon with their black Labrador, Oliver. They enjoy spending time with each other and with friends. They love to travel and to meet new people. One of Terri's greatest joys is when she is able to share her stories with children at the various schools she is able to visit.
