Tess Quinn works for a living, but she reads, writes and travels for her soul! A lifelong reader, she was introduced to literature at a young age, and developed a love for many of the English authors - her favorites being Jane Austen and Thomas Hardy. She was also an Army brat (daughter of a career officer) and moved every few years with her family -- a great life if you are naturally a 'gypsy' even if it did mean changing schools and growing new friends now and again. That combination of things - added together with a love of certain periods of history and as remarkable an admiration for the UK as someone could possibly feel who wasn't born there - have led her to today, where in her spare time she reads, she writes, and she travels wherever time and funds will take her.Tess reads early women writers, historical fiction, mysteries and precedurals, some science fiction (the psychological kind more than the alien kind), biographies, folklore, and cookbooks(!) and anything else that is well written. (She loves language and people who use it well!) She began writing in earnest in 2005 - finally gathering the courage to fulfil a lifelong dream of doing so - and has focused for now on works that pay homage to Jane Austen by using her characters and novels as springboards. Yes, fan fiction! The challenge to keep Miss Austen's characters "in character" as it were, and come up with fresh scenes and perspectives that fall within the conventions of the Regency period, is sometimes torturous but always fulfilling. When her next two in-progress works are completed, she will branch out with wholly original novels and characters, staying mostly within the Georgian-Regency periods that offer such fertile ground with their societal conventions.
