I liked the plot of this historical western romance but the ups and downs of the romance felt fake and after the prologue the action was slow although it did pick up about midway. Years after a bad marriage consummation army caption Walker shows up to protect his estranged wife Lacy who wants nothin...

1.5 starsPretty much one sweet moment in the epilogue and the hero Walker are the only things I managed to like about this book, the rest of the story and Lacy's histrionics just drove me up the wall. The number and frequency of mood swings this girl goes through puts any kind of bad PMS days I have...

I like Jodi Thomas' westerns. Her writing reminds me of Cheryl St. John. This books wasn't as good as the first one in the series that I read but I liked it well enough.
I do love this series. Lacy was my favorite of the three "lottery brides", and I was thrilled to read her story. I really liked the pacing of the story, and how Lacy and Walker were slow to come together (heh)...The entire series comes highly recommended by me.
