A real eye-opener for me. Brilliantly written, it had me laughing one moment and crying the next. If you are looking for a good read for young adults, this is definitely one of them. Thumbs up.
Meh. It was alright--a little overly "boy" for me, maybe. I'm more interested in reading the one that's sampled in the back of this one, but it's not on Kindle. I may have to send someone to the library.

Books like this make me realize that I've become complacent. Others that I've read that I thought were worthy of a 5 star rating I now realize I over rated. It's literature like The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian that really sets the mold for the books that truly deserve five stars.I'm ...
I have not read a lot of teen fiction, so I'm in no position to say how this book compares to others of that genre. Perhaps that is a good thing because on its own this is a great book not only for teenagers, but anyone.Alexie has made a name for himself as a novelist and director, and he incorporat...

So far, even though the style took some getting used to, and the voice was slightly frustrating at first, I have to say this book reaffirms my love of Alexie. He is able to pull you along peacefully and then hit you with something so profound and utterly true that I swear you almost gasp.

This kid had so many reasons to give in to the despair that ravaged his Spokane Indian reservation, but in...
Junior has had enough. He’s seen enough lives wasted on the reservation, people destroyed by a potent combination of alcohol and hopelessness. Junior makes his move; he leaves the comfort of his reservation school for the white school twenty-two long miles away, a world away from the reservation. A ...
