This collection of short stories by Barnes and Noble was worth the price. I loved the sparkly cover (the lettering is in silver) and there are also illustrations included. The pages are nicely edged as well and it comes with it's own personal bookmark. That said, I enjoyed all of the stories, though...
This one contains some of the most famous stories of the Sherlockian canon (such as A Scandal in Bohemia, The Speckled Band, and The Red-Headed League), but it has also its fair share of the less brilliant. Five Orange Pips is certainly lame; everyone acts stupidly there, starting with the criminals...
Happy Halloween Bingo 2016 everyone! My first post, my first square - Creepy Crawlies. I chose The Adventure of the Speckled Band from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. It's a re-read but it's easily one of my top 5 favourites of the Holmes canon. A young woman living under the repression of...
This is filled with several short stories. They were interesting and live up to the adventures part of the title. I believe the shortness of the stories made me not get into them as much. I still liked them for sure.
After “reading” lengthy audiobooks like [b: Vanity Fair|5797|Vanity Fair|William Makepeace Thackeray|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1344386439s/5797.jpg|1057468] I just wanted to read/listen-to something short. Then I saw the movie The Imitation Game (highly recommended) and I thought “Of course! She...
As far as I can recall, I’ve never read any of the Sherlock Holmes stories. The most exposure I’ve had to Sherlock Holmes prior to reading this book has been through the episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation where Data assumed the role of Sherlock on the holodeck. This book consists of twelve...
If you've ever read Sherlock Holmes, you don't need me to tell you how brilliant this collection of stories is. It has most of my favourites: A Scandal in Bohemia, The Adventure of the Red-Headed League, The Five Orange Pips, The Man with the Twisted Lip and The Adventure of the Speckled Band. Th...
I listened to the LibriVox audio edition read by Mark Smith. He has a pleasant voice to listen to before going to bed and that's exactly what I've been doing. Short stories are nice for this purpose anyways, because if you fall asleep while listening, you can just start the story over again or estim...
...... and REALLY enjoyed it. I was a tad concerned at the beginning i would find it boring that it was written so long ago (i dont have a good history with classic's) but i found these collection of shorts stories to be fantastic! Plus it was great to see the book side of Sherlock rather then alway...
There's not really a whole lot to say about this installment of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. It was entertaining enough, but nothing earth shattering. The Woman (Irene Adler) was introduced in the first story in this collection. Frankly she's much more interesting in the current British tel...
