Series: Dr Thomas Silkstone Mystery #1 Very mild spoilers. This was a fairly intricately plotted historical fiction mystery that I quite enjoyed despite the apparently mandatory love interest along with love at first sight (at least on his part). It was also refreshing because it takes place i...

So this was not the book I thought I was picking up and I didn't look at the description before I downloaded this audiobook. I thought I was picking up this book. Can you see how I might have screwed this up? If I told you I heard about The Midwife of Venice once 3 years ago would that help explain...

3.5 stars...I thought it was a good start but I think the writing needs to be developed a little more. There was alot of redundancy in the writing and alot of the same repeated phrases but I think with practice Harris will be a really superb writer. I enjoyed the story and the technical explanations...

This was a KU offering. On the whole, it was just really not very good. I love historical mysteries - some of my favorite series are historical mystery series set in various time periods. Specific mention goes to Deanna Raybourne's Lady Julia series, as well as C.S. Harris's Sebastian St. Cyr. T...

~~Moved from GR~~ The Anatomist's Apprentice by Tessa Harris DNF As soon as I saw the ridiculously attractive cover-art and intruiging title, I couldn't wait to tear into the story. To my disappointment, I found I really shouldn't have judged this one by its cover. The story takes place in Engla...

He is a sickly man...or say they say...and takes ill quite a lot. Gossip meanders about, like a lady of the night, when he dies abruptly and painfully, it seems, ...

Audio (fantastic narrator)-This is not a book I would normally pick up to read. I did because it was book of the month on Amazon. I was looking for something new-Why not right ? I am not going to dismiss Amazon's picks anymore. this book was excellent. I was on the edge of my seat on every page. Th...

I am sorry, but I LOVED this book. In response to some other reviewers, I have read so many historical fiction novels where authors couldn't even be bothered to learn the speaking style/culture of the time, I loved that slang, tone, style, etc. that was written in this book. I listened to this book ...

I will admit that I was hoping this woudl be like The Alientist by Caleb Carr which I absolutely loved. While it didn't live up to my expectations, I still did ultimately enjoy it.. It was pretty slow in the beginning and I did find myself re-listening to parts to get the characters straight. In ...
