I love this book. I really enjoy multi-generational sagas and it was definitely a cross between Out of Africa and Downtown Abby. The ending is definitely a surprise and I hope Lauren continues with this type of novel, I will read them all.
Read my full review: http://bit.ly/12VdwWDMy opinion: Gotta say that I went into this book with a bit of trepidation. I am not a fan of Ms. Willig's Pink Carnation series, so I had a bit of fear heading into this one to review. I am thrilled I did. I loved this atmospheric novel and the dark story w...
Interesting story, well-written, but I didn't end the book with much like nor attachment for any of the main characters. This book spans roughly the early 1900s through the mid 1920s in England and Kenya, and runs parallel to 1999 London and New York.In 1906, six year old Addie's parents died. Her fa...
3.5 star readClemmie (Clementine) Evans is a hard-working woman. She's dedicated seven years of her life to the law-firm of Cromwell, Polk & Moore and is the fast-track (if seven years is considered fast) to be considered a junior partner. Clemmie has no social life to speak of and has recently brok...

However, in this case, the modern day (or at least kind of modern - their story is set in 1999) lovers' ...
What an amazing story! I was swept into reading about the lives of two women—grandmother and granddaughter—told in parallel in this sweeping epoch. This is a story with life-changing secrets but, ultimately, lasting love.Clemmie Evans is a workaholic lawyer whose concentration on her job and her des...
If you’re familiar with Lauren Willig’s books, then you know she often combines narratives from the past with the present. The Ashford Affair isn’t any different and incorporates the narratives of both Clementine (in the present) and Addie’s (the past). This is Addie’s story, but in many ways, it’s ...
Quite morose in tone, however I was drawn into this family drama of a novel that travels smoothly between the early 20th century and the last decade of that same century. Very emotionally involving, although certain characters were hard to feel sympathy for. Recommended to readers who are intereste...
