So far the best book in the series! I really really enjoyed this one and I couldn't put it down. Cleverly written, action-packed with great characterization.Simply perfect.
Installment 4 was an improvement over Book 3, which was disappointing. The gang reassembles in Skandia, and then - ultimately - returns to Araluen having forged a tentative alliance with the raiders from the north.Both Nick and I are very much enjoying this series. I really like Flanagan's treatment...
Another great book in the Ranger's Apprentice series. If you are a fan of young adult fantasy with a medieval setting, you have got to listen to this series. Can't wait until the rest of his books get published in the US!

John Flanagan has written some of the best battles I've ever read. He keeps your attention but doesn't get all fancy on you with battle-talk and the such, you know, all those fancy terms people use when they write high fantasy. Anyway, he paced the battle to perfection and keeps you well entertainte...
