Georgette Heyer's first novel is silly melodrama, but I enjoyed reading it anyway. I could see glimpses of the author she would become. But the values and priorities of the time were seriously messed up!
This was the first novel by Heyer, and also it had its share of problems, it read very well, showing the hand of the future master of the romance genre.
