I'm pretty sure that I've mentioned once or twice before here that The Chronicles of Prydain were the books that got me into fantasy. The Chronicles of Narnia made me a fan of Narnia, but really didn't carry over to anything outside of Narnia (at least until I got older and tried Mere Christianity)....

The Chronicles of Prydain keep coming up as another classic series I should have read but never did. The first, The Book of Three, is very simplistic in plot and device. I don't know what kids expected in 1964, but I felt like for today's Harry Potter world kids can be trusted with quite a bit more ...

The BasicsTaran takes care of the pig. Needless to say that’s not a very satisfying life for him, and really he longs for adventure. Let's backtrack a bit...I didn't hate this book, which is surprising because I was about ready to chuck it early on. Near the beginning, all the nonsense...

This is one of those famous children's books I didn't read as a kid. I am very glad I listened to my cousin and gave it a shot. It is still a fun, entertaining story, even for an adult. On the surface, every character sounds like one I would hate. Gwydion is a know-it-all, perfect, magical prince. Ta...

This is a story I first read at the wrong point in my life - I was old enough not to be the target for this book, but too young to realize that there are many reasons a book won't work for a specific person.Reading it now, as an adult, it still doesn't entirely work for me, but I think I understand ...

I felt as though this started out a bit slow, but I think part of that might have been since I was trying to read in a hospital. The two aren't very conducive ;p. Despite stumbling through the first few chapters, this book was quite enjoyable. I found Taran a bit annoying in the beginning, but it wa...
