The Children of Húrin by J.R.R. Tolkien is a tragic story of The Children of Húrin, one of the unfinished tales in The Silmarillion.Though The Children of Húrin was a great read, it was a tragic one, but I loved learning of what happened fully to Hurin's children, Túrin and Niënor. It has been years...

This is the story of Turin, and in my opinion it is the most tragic of all of Tolkien's stories. It's up there with Steinbeck, for just how dark and miserable it is. For a good love story, read about Beren and Luthien in The Lays of Beleriand. If you want to cry, read this. It's been about twen...

This one is a little hard going. If you've read The Silmarillion, it is similar in tone and expands on Tolkien's mythology. Personally I like this sort of thing, but it can be a little dry for some people. It's not what you would call fast action and Tolkien does have a way of dragging things out....

Even if this is a very good book, I was not sure to like it because it was different than the Hobbit. I mean that the story explain a entire life, so it's not only an short adventure. It's a lot of things that happen in only one book, so we only read the most important events. It's a bit complicated...

The Children of Hurin was amazing, and I love the illustrations, but what a tragic ending! Hurin was finally released from Morgoth's bondage and was reunited with his wife Morwen, but it was too late! I loved that Turin slays the dragon (Glaurang) like Hercules. I loved the Fey in Lord of The Rings...

This is a very dark and cold story, as so many reviewers have pointed out; but it's a tragedy, of course it wasn't going to be sunshine and rainbows. Túrin was one of my favorite characters in the Simlarillion, so naturally I was thrilled when I found out that he had his own book--and now he is one ...

This a much darker tale than Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit. Curses, deceit and never ending woe seem to make up this tome. This being a reread I found that I was having a much easier time of keeping the characters names straight. His world and history building really helped me understand the two m...

The first half of this book was excellent, the second half however just made me want to whack Túrin in every scene. If ever there was a character who didn't learn from their mistakes... Didn't expect the story to be a tragedy when i first began reading, but Tolkien really doesn't keep that a secret ...
