The Returned was a lyrical novel of past and present, life and death, and pain and remembrance. It wasn't a particularly great novel, but it told a pleasant story about death while maintaining a very positive outlook. I got this free for my kindle in ebook and audible audiobook format.I found out about the three prequel short stories after I had started the main book; which I'll admit I'm struggling to finish.I feel that Jason Mott's writing is very compelling but also a bit exhausting in its emotional intensity....
