I had no idea what this book was when I picked it up as it was wrapped-up in plastic when I bought it. I had found it at one of our thrift stores and for .88 cents, I thought I would take a chance and just buy it. I thought my granddaughter or my daughter-in-law might like it (she's an high school...

Lexile Level: 940L This series by C.S. Lewis would be wonderful to introduce to upper elementary students. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe introduces four siblings named Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy and details their discovery of the magical world of Narnia which they enter through a wardro...

The Chronicles of Narnia follows the adventures of the Pevensie family and how they find adventure and honor in another world. I would truly use these books on ALL grade levels, reading to the younger and making book reviews for the older. There is literally so many units you could do with these!

Yes, the whole set. I missed these in childhood so thought I would do a catch up read. The only real problem with these are they're written for children. I was very aware of this as I read. Not the most sophisticated writing in the world. However, the stories have a special charm and they make f...

Depending upon who you ask, the series begins with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe OR it begins with The Magician's Nephew. I prefer to begin with The Magician's Nephew as it's technically the prequel (although written second to last) and sets up the creation of Narnia (the lamppost!). It foll...

Yay! I've finished the first book of The Chronicles of Narnia! Actually, I own all the books in this giant beautifully illustrated volume, but since getting through all of it will take time, I decided to post my opinion after each book. I have been planning to read The Chronicles of Narnia ever...

I picked up the first in the series as a young child, a very ready mind, since my first book of any length was having The Hobbit read to me as a child. I didn't know that Tolkien and Lewis used to sit over a table in an Oxford pub discussing literature. I didn't know Lewis specialized in Christian a...

I just re-read these books again this year and I still love them as much as I did as a child. I have to say also these books have one of the few movie adaptations that do the print version justice, I'm not saying the movie is better than the book, it's not, but it does it justice. Amazing books, lov...

I only recently read the Narnia novels as an adult, so I can't speak to how I might have experienced it as a child. I thought the first book I read, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe too blatant in its Christian Allegory and would have stopped there if a couple of friends hadn't urged me to read ...

This audiobook production is excellent if one likes the books; unfortunately I found them intolerably loathsome.
