As unrelentingly clever and inventive as the first book.
I didn't love it as much as Whales on Stilts: M.T. Anderson's Thrilling Tales, which had the benefit of feeling fresh and surprising. But still, a fun read. Rather poignant, too, peopled with the characters of both popular and forgotten (imaginary) series.
Okay, but not as good as Anderson's previous in the series, [book: Whales on Stilts!], which struck a better balance between parody and earnest absurdity. [book: The Clue of the Linoleum Lederhosen] has its own good jokes and affectionate jabs at genre fiction aimed at children, but doesn't pull it ...
