The first Knights Templar appeared in 1129, with the creation of their Order, and they soon spread across the Christian world to acquire both power and influence. They played a key role in the Crusades, protecting Christian warriors and pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem, and built up significant economic power during the period. Part of their economic prowess saw them develop early forms of banking.

However, their financial and banking successes soon led to a certain amount of jealousy on the part of the period's rulers, many of whom coveted the Templars' power and influence. Rumours of secret initiations created a climate of fear and distrust around the Templars, and the King of France, Philip IV, decided to try and escape from the large debts he owed to the Order by having many of the members arrested, tortured and executed. The Order was shut down, but rumours persist up until the present day regarding the fate of their wealth and economic assets, appearing in popular culture in books such as the 'DaVinci Code'.

The Conspiracy Files series lifts the lid on some of the world's most notorious mysteries, unexplained events and possible conspiracies. The narrative examines the accepted version of events, considers their veracity, and investigates the potential for conspiracy and cover-up.

There are a total of eight books in the Conspiracy Files series, with multi-book bundles comprising four books offering the best value for money.
