This book is just a one big giant mess, but not in immensely terrible way, but in immensely good way, for on one hand it's filled with so much gore that you find it easy to put it down, ignore it, and put it aside, and on the other hand it's filled with such a twisted story line that keeps evolving ...

I'm going to be honest, I only finished this book because I wanted to see how the case was resolved. I felt like this novel was just a clumsy vehicle for the author to show off how much he knows about criminal psychology and profiling (which was his former profession, I believe). I loved this book, it kind of read like Criminal minds meets saw. But it was an amazing book. The twists and turns the investigation took them was surprising. It was great. I can't wait to read the other books.
