A rugged protagonist boards a train and sees death in the eyes of several men. He tells a young man that he needs to get off the train if he wants to live. And the two of them begin another journey -- but one still fraught with danger and death. . . This was my first book by Koryta, and I was plea...

The Cypress House is my first Michael Koryta novel, but likely won’t be my last. I’m not even sure why this one was on my TBR list, as I added it years ago, long before I started keeping notes as to why I put books on the list for management/periodic TBR purges. It was an odd mix of thriller and r...

★★★★½ So well narrated! Certainly enhanced the experience. Great twists, too! Definitely enhanced by reading it as a “buddy read” to glean other’s perspectives and insights.

Yes, I gave it four stars but with a big reservation.A question I always ask myself when reading a novel of the supernatural is, "Are the supernatural elements essential to the story." This book reminds me of either a 40's movie mystery (for some reason..don't know why, I keep having flashbacks to the movie Key Largo with Humphrey Bogart)-full of intrigue- or a book I have read before. I can't put my finger on it and it is driving me crazy. Never the less, it is a really well-writ...

Excerpt from Linus's Blanket Koryta manages to balance chills and tension-filled suspense throughout this story of a man who has spent his life on the run, afraid of not only what he can do, but also of the barely contained guilt he feels over the death of his father. Overcoming his demons have seri...
