3.5 starsGood story. A bit information dump overload at times and a bit rambling. I enjoyed the characters though. And I'm just plain a Lanyon fangirl.

Josh Lanyon in his usual goodness. There was one thing I found hard to believe
(that the MC took so long to figure out the book was inside the tomb - it seemed pretty obvious)
, but otherwise, this was an interesting and well-written story. I liked the main characters
...

3 stars. Not my favorite Lanyon book by a long shot. Started to enjoy it after the halfway point, but I really just didn't get the romance. Septimus went from being condescending to being in love? Colin Briggs accepts a job to find an ancient and dangerous grimoire, The Swords Shadow. Pretty soon into his search he realizes that he’s in way over his head and that he’s not the on...

Heart in my throat, I hardly dared to read what would happen next. The suspense and mystery were so w...

Aw, I wanted to like this more than I did...I liked the magic aspect of the story, but I just couldn't get into the relationship between Septimus and Colin. Like another reviewer mentioned, I just felt a disconnect between them...I mean, Septimus is that slightly brooding and intriguing character I...
