I was a little bit disappointed in the ending but it was still an amazing read. I thoroughly enjoy it! I loved the mysterious, creepy and well-built atmosphere and how the story is told through diary entries, police reports, transcripts and more. I have already started recommending it!
Rating: 2 StarsDNF 35%Again another weird book by Ms Kurtagich. The beginning started off good and interesting and slowly when downhill from there. I personally didn't like all the various ways of the story being told. It was too busy and very confusing...there are newspaper articles, video recor...
This is a book for people who like straight up horror, like the girl coming out of the tv or mirror, the demon possessing the child's body, the paranormal events being caught on camera, etc. That type of horror isn't really my thing, but I was still able to get into this story. It deals with menta...
She came out at night and I thought she was the fun one, the dark one. These two girls left each other notes to communicate, to let each other know exactly what was happening and what to expect should someone mention something that they didn’t understand. It seemed to me that Kaitlyn was more depend...
For me this book was pretty incredible. It takes focus and an ability to not keep diving under the duvet every time something downright creepy occurs (sometimes I did well other times I eyed the novel from a place of safety somewhere full of light) - The Dead House is a multi-layered tale that can b...
4 Stars! #TheDeadHouse @littlebrown @dawnkurtagich This was one strange and creepy book. The main character was one body with two people living out of it. She was Carly by day and Kaitlin by night. The story was told my diary entries, newspaper accounts, doctor's notes, post it notes left between ...
I honestly love books like this one. The story felt really original, it was very easy to doubt whether the protagonist was sick and delusional or if the paranormal occurrences were real which kept me guessing for a long time while reading the book. I had an easy time imagining what was happening and...
Three students: dead. Carly Johnson: vanished without a trace. Two decades have passed since an inferno swept through Elmbridge High, claiming the lives of three teenagers and causing one student, Carly Johnson, to disappear. The main suspect: Kaitlyn, "the girl of nowhere." Kaitlyn's diary, discove...
[I received a copy of this book through NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.]The kind of format I like (and I probably missed on a lot more, considering I had a digital copy, not a paper one), mixing extracts from diaries, interviews and camera clips, as well as a non-chronological narrative...
The one downside to enjoying horror themed books and movies so much is that it takes a lot to impress me. Take a minute to think about the very onslaught of "found footage" horror movies that have been made in the recent past. In order for this pseudo-documentary style to work, the creator has to pu...
