Deanna Raybourn's Lady Julia series was my favorite historical mystery series for quite a long while, and I was incredibly disappointed when the publisher decided not to continue with the series. I also liked her three books set during the interwar period, which had an interesting tie-in to the Lady...

I really enjoyed this book, I didn't know what to expect even when I was halfway through the book! I'm definitely going to look into the other books that this author has written.

As a fan of Deanna Raybourn's Lady Julia Gray series, I wasn't quite sure how I would feel about a standalone not set in that world. I shouldn't have been worried.Full of the mysterious gothic spookiness we've come to love from her other books, with the same clean style of romance, I thoroughly enjo...

2.5 starsIt was ok, nothing spectacular. Fans of the paranormal romance/mystery will likely enjoy far more. Perfectly happy to not have read it, so not really recommending it, but nothing I really objected to either. Just not for me.

I loved the HEA but this is one of the few books where I would have been satisfied without it. Would recomm...

Moody and atmospheric, Gothic, suspenseful and slightly creepy, yet not a full-on horror novel. It also featured just t...

Theodora is soon swept up into a web of intrigue and mystery ove...

I absolutely adore Deanna Raybourn's three previous books: Silent in the Grave, Silent in the Sanctuary and Silent on the Moor. They are Victorian mystery novels with a romantic subplot, and delight me immensely. So when I heard that Raybourn had a completely stand-alone book out, inspired by Gothic...

Atmospheric is the first thing I think about when I think about this book. The characters are well written but the character that really shines in this book is Transylvania. From the un-trusting villagers, to the mysterious tales and legends punctuated by the howls of wolves and the still healthy bo...
