I kind of can't even handle how ridiculously pulpy this series is so far. Patient Zero pretends to a kind of scientrism, wherein the zombie outbreak our intrepid heroes race to thwart has, like, a modicum of scientific plausibility, I guess. Baltimore cop and chiseled jaw hero Joe Ledger gets tapped...
The follow up to Patient Zero is pretty solid, but I did miss the zombies. Our villain this time is a mad scientist using weaponized genetic diseases to destroy the world. He's creepy and the reveal of his identity
he's Josef Mengele
is pretty good. There are multiple threads a...
A slam bang opening leads into a slow development which bogged down a bit before things really got going again, but still, a strong entry in a fun, dynamic series.
Fascinating. Disturbing. A unicorn! A dragon! Ledger is a badass. Sniffle moments.

I picked up the first book because it was highly rated on a lot of zombie fiction lists and I thought I would give it a shot, and I was so surprised at how awesome i...
Rating: 2.5 stars
I didn't particularly enjoy it but the book grabbed me and I made it all the way through pretty quickly.
This is the second book in Jonathan Maberry's Joe Ledger series. While there is not too much of a reference back to the first book, the first book, Patient Zero, does set up the characters and relationship and how Joe becomes involved with the DMS (plus it is a great read) that you may feel the need...
I really, really liked Patient Zero so I was eager to read this sequel. To be honest, I was thinking it was four stars until I got to the end. The story was solid, I just have a lot of skepticism any time a book brings in Nazis. Too often writers use it as convenient shorthand for evil. You don't nee...
Another good work by Mr. Maberry. Joe Ledger is the man, sort of a modern day super warrior hero. If you like action books then the Joe Ledger series is for you. This book confused me a little with the players involved so I didn't give it a five. Nonetheless, it was a good read. To bad the US d...
