I loved this book. I loved how all the stories were woven together and I learned a lot about the different time periods and cultures.

I felt like this book was written as a class project, and I was supposed to be marking it with a red pen. The "plot" was several long character sketches, which weren't bad, but they weren't great, and the so-called story was almost non-existent.

I found myself really caring about the characters with this one, and the storylines were decent, though the way connected didn't really come off as a surprise in the end. The prose never hooked me, and I think that's why this one felt a little long and slow. I also really don't know who the target...

Though the writing in J. Courtney Sullivan's novel, "The Engagements" was very good. In the end I really did not care for the novel as a whole.The novel takes a historic person, Mary Francis Gerety, who came up with the "A Diamond is Forever" slogan while working as a copywriter for N.W. Ayer & Son ...
