Murder, Voodoo, and a mother’s Revenge. The Epitaph is a short story which tells the tale of the tragic life of Zula Gore, a first generation free born descendent of slavery. When her son Jonah, who is mildly retarded is brutally murdered by three white teens on Halloween in rural Alabama, justice is not served, as the social hatred of the time remains powerful. Devastated by her loss, Zula claims justice for her son.
