I've been sitting on this book for a while now, and I simply don't know what to say about this book. I liked it, really. It had all the elements that I love. A decent plot, good characters, standard fantasy setting, plenty of female characters, princesses, magic, mystery. But it just lacked...pass...

The False Princess is a clean, light fantasy that I can give my 12 year old daughter to read. I would love to read more from this author.

Despite the generic YA cover, this isn't paint-by-numbers fantasy. This book was clearly written out of a deep appreciation for and knowledge of fantasy tropes. Nalia is a princess whose only real joys are old documents, languages, and her one friend, Kiernan. She's shy and clumsy, but she hopes t...

Let me tell you what makes The False Princess great. Number one, it’s the concept – a mixture of both fairy tale and historical fiction. The book is about Nalia who is told that she is actually not a princess. She’s a decoy to protect the real princess. Nalia's original name is revealed to be Sinda....

The False Princess takes you down the same path that countless fairy tales have already walked. Why read it? Because this time your walking it backwards.Nalia is the princess, until she discovers that her real name is Sinda and she's really just a stand in to protect the real Nalia. That really suck...

Meh. This was just ok. It was a fairly predictable fairy tale about a girl raised as the princess who finds that, in fact, she is an ordinary girl. She was switched at birth to protect the real princess from assassination. There was nothing really wrong or bad about this book. It's an entertain...

Also appears on The Screaming Nitpicker.Imagine living for sixteen years thinking you're one person and then discovering that you're not. You were just their stand-in to make sure they stayed alive, and then you were cast out into the world with little help from the people who raised you. This is th...

I thought this would be an okay book, and it wasn't bad in the beginning. But then, it turned into a romance glued together with cliches.Cliches:1. The romance: "I love you, and I love you so much, but I still keep hurting you all the time. - Love, Sinda. P.S. I put a spell on you which controls yo...

I love a well written fantasy book and The False Princess is exactly that. In this case it’s a classic kind of fairy tale re-told with fascinating characters and a well-planned plot.We are in a fictional kingdom and throughout the book we learn more and more about the history of Thorvaldor. Magic is...
