I was in a very distractable state of mind when I read this so I don't think I got the whole effect. But I did enjoy it. A true bromance, but not with bros. And, you know, saving the world and serious stuff.

On average, I would say I enjoyed this book about as much as I had enjoyed the previous two books, but maybe less in some ways, and more in other ways.In the very beginning of book one, we were told Ged would eventually be an Archmage. At the beginning of this book, we find that this has come to pa...
(read originally in the 80's)Scope Review: Earthsea Trilogy. “Only in silence the word,Only in dark the light,Only in dying life:Bright the hawk’s flightOn the empty sky”Yin & Yang?I honestly don't remember a time when I wasn't obsessed with reading and collecting books. I'd define childhood as a ne...
In this last book of the trilogy the now Archmage Ged journeys to that farthest shore--the ends of the earth--to defeat a wizard claiming to have conquered death--and draining out of the world music and magic as a result. Ged believes that the wish for immortality is the root of evil. A theme I coul...
All three books of the original Earthsea trilogy have always been right up there with my most favorite books of all time, but both when I was a child, and now, I thought that The Farthest Shore was the least strong of the three. However, I think I had different reasons for feeling that way now, than...
For quite a while, I've spent my time in reading fantasy books. From The Lord of the Rings, Narnia, and Harry Potter, to Eragon, Percy Jackson, and Stardust. I have to say that Earthsea is really a wonderful addition to the world of fantasy. Though what makes Earthsea outstanding is not what I expec...
Best of the series in my opinion. This one had more of a traditional fantasy book structure-- venturing across unknown seas to the worlds' end to fight ultimate evil. I'm okay with that.I'm not sure reading this novel was enough payoff for reading the first two of the series-- they were pretty lame.
Final verdict: This series does not vibrate on my wavelength. In theory, I'd like to say that I'll be picking up the remaining books in the series, but realistically, I don't know if I will be able to motivate myself to actually do so. Getting through these books was like pulling teeth, and it's not...
