My third Susanna Kearsley book of the year--I think I need to space her novels out, as they're all very similar and I might have enjoyed this one more if I hadn't read some of her other books a few weeks ago. The Firebird tells the story of a modern pair of psychics, Nicola and Rob, who work toget...
The second in the Slains series (I'm not sure how many there are going to be), this is a continuation of the first book, The Winter Sea. In this novel, we experience the same sort of modern/historic double story, with Nicola and Rob as our modern day couple (who, of course, aren't together, but, s...
I just finished The Firebird and I love it. It has everything I like: history, mystery, intrigue, historical beginnings. This one is set in St Petersburg and the characters have a part to play in the Jacobite uprising. Since I loved it so much, I went to check Susanna Kearsley's bio and she says:...
First of all, kudos to the author for making me want to be transported to eighteenth century Scotland and England, a time that was not particularly pleasant for anyone. Susanna Kearsley has a talent for embedding enough detail and research into her stories about this time period without making them...
I picked this book up because of the recommendation by somebody whose tastes I trust and because I was hoping for some Russia in the book. For those of you who yet do not know firebird is a very well known character from Russian fairy tales. Well, there was not as much Imperial Russia as I hoped, bu...
This author's books are so good and this book is no exception. Again, we're taken back and forth in time with romances on both ends. I liked the romance that takes place now more. We also see Sophia again, which was wonderful. I'll read anything I can get my hands on from this author.
I just had to read this one twice before I could really say anything about it. There is just so much to this book, and the writing is just delicious! In the modern-day story, Nicola has a gift. She can touch objects and see into their pasts. However, she has always hidden this talent, wanting to fit...
Just wonderful. There's a formula that Susanna Kearsley uses for each book and it's one that I love. There's so much here to love: the connections to Winter Sea (my absolute favorite of hers), Rob, Edmund, Anna, the history, family. Must buy this one since I borrowed it from the library.
A DNF--historical/romance/paranormal fiction that just didn't work for me. Stopped at page 150.http://www.3rsblog.com/2013/07/she-reads-the-firebird-susanna-kearsley.html
