It's exactly as horrible as I remember it being (surprise surprise, I got at least this far on my first try half a lifetime ago), but I'm still going to keep reading. Misogynistic, racist purple prose won't stop me! I think Scarlet O'Hara said that. Oh, no? Dammit.
No Perrin which is a downside, but a lot of the characters are now heading towards situations I remember them in which is good.
