text The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship

retold by Arthur Ransome, illustrated by Uri Shulevitz I vaguely remembered parts of this book as I was reading it. I might have read it as a kid (the white rolls particularly stood out to me). All in all it's the usual fare found in fairy tales. I did like the color scheme Shulevitz used.

I've encountered various versions of this story about a group of friends or brothers who each possess unexplained special abilities. Sometimes this tale is combined with that of the Fool of the World. This version was nothing special, and the rather boring illustrations did not enliven it.
