An excellent, entertaining read as always. Set in the late colonial occupation of India; seems to be an ongoing trend with the series, taking Sherlock beyond the borders of Britain. King's descriptive prose brings immersive colour and texture to this spy-travel-adventure.

Given my obsessive interest in colonial India, I'm surprised that I didn't like this entry in the Mary Russell series more than I did. Perhaps coming on the heels of Justice Hall, which was my favorite of the seven that I have read, this one suffered by comparison. Like Murder by Death (with whom ...

I finished this yesterday, but everyone and every thing conspired against me this weekend and I was unable to update/post except in 15 seconds bursts. My apologies to Moonlight Reader for letting down the side a bit. Talk about conflicted about a read. I both loved and hated almost every page. ...

This is absolutely my most favorite Holmes series ever! Every book in the series is fantastic-5 star! If you like Sherlock Holmes, you have to read this pastiche. It's the best one I've read yet.

It did take me a bit to get into the right mindset this...

I can’t and won’t give any stars to this book, as I couldn’t finish it. THE GAME by Laurie R. King, based on the classic KIM by Rudyard Kipling, features amateur sleuths Mary Russell and her husband, another literary heavyweight, Sherlock Holmes, as the duo travels to India, and tries to find Kimbal...
