Sometimes we need a book like this, because not everyone is as obvious as this guy...Oh sure, let me check in right now! This book isn't about what to do after a crime has started. Instead, it's about how to prevent these things from happening in the first place. It's about using your intuition, a ...

I wasn't sure how to review this book. I don't read much non-fiction, and I read this one because, with certain events happening in my personal life, numerous people told me I needed to read this book. It was incredibly informative. The biggest thing I took away from it was probably in the very ...

A worthwhile book, although not entirely new subject matter in my opinion. The author uses examples from his line of work to hammer home the fact that bad people are out there, and they will do bad things, but it's not a requirement that you become a victim of their evil.In my opinion, this is some...

An interesting read. The author argues that we try to overanalyse our intuition and we don't see the signals our bodies are trying to give us about dangerous people and situations. An interesting read, well worth a read and some thinking about.

If you're my Goodreads 'friend' you probably already know a fair bit about this book, so I won't recap it, except to point here for those who don't know: this is a few quotes from his Pre-Incident Indicators part of the book, which is the core of the book for me. De Becker describes clearly the ways...

I would like to own a copy of this book. It really does contain information that could save your life. Each chapter deals with a different kind of violence: workplace violence, stalking, intimate partner violence, etc. Over and over again the author demonstrates that there are warning signs for almo...

Very engagingly written. I found the subject interesting, and the language easy to read (meaning that it wasn't as dry and technical as it could have been). Hopefully I'll never have to put any of this theory into practise, and Becker himself said that the book was more relevant for people in the U...

Okay, really, I'm not sure than anything can possibly protect any of us from violence. But I do recognize that there are maybe some things that can help. Unlike the general advice aimed at women to restrict their movements and choices, de Becker's advice is more simple and non-sexist: trust your ...
