I am re-reading a lot of series so I remember them better for the new books that have come out this year. I have to say I didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as the first time around. I think the characters are a bit bland and it really isn't anything new, and I have to compare it to books like Dau...

I really enjoyed this book it started out pretty slow but once it got interesting it stayed that way. I have to say while I liked the main characters of Echo and Cauis, but my favorites are Jasper, Dorian, and Ivy. I gave the book 4 1/2 stars instead of 5 due to the fact it took a bit of time for me...

Cybils book. I think the strength of this is the set-up, and the plot which is fast-moving. I liked it more than I think I might have in a different mood, but I enjoyed the way the conflict played out.

On its own, without considering anything else, I enjoyed the plot and the little bit of mythology within the world. BUT, I just can’t overlook the lack of originality that was peppered throughout the whole thing. It has been said in so many reviews already, but seriously, this is too similar to Da...

This is one of those books that I'd love to see turn into a movie, the vivid detail Melissa uses to describe her world and the people and species in this book is beautiful and intriguing and I'd love to just see that visually displayed. I know nothing can compare to the book, but even someone else's...

“She had gone to the library in search of hope, but what she'd found instead was a child. It would take her many years to realize that the two were not so different.” This is a tough nut to crack. I have so many mixed feelings about this book. There were times when I felt like the story was dragging...

Definitely a fan of Melissa Grey. Absolutely love her writing style. Beautifully written with wonderful characters and an interesting plot line. Yes, its similar to Daughter of Smoke and Bone but I still loved it. My only complaint is that I knew exactly "what" the Firebird was as soon as I heard ab...

When a novel is pitched as something that fans of Cassandra Clare and Leigh Bardugo will eat right up, you’ll know right away that I’ll have my interest piqued. Author Melissa Grey’s The Girl at Midnight sounded like an imaginative read that would hook me with ease. Urban fantasy with a protagonist ...

Two ancient races of people, a centuries old war and one human girl equal one of the most imaginative, inventive and engaging books I've read so far this year. If you're in the mood fr a change of pace, nothing like you've read before, don't hesitate. Pick this one up STAT.
