Rating: 4.5 out of 5.Lilith Saintcrow’s character and world building has always been my favourite. From my first read of Dante Valentine and the UF world she created to this fantasy duology, I am still quite impressed by her. She creates not only the worlds, but also other little nuances (such as ne...
Hm.Hm. Hm. Hm.Okay, alright. I was going to give this book three stars, which were almost entirely won by Tristan and the like three occasions where somebody said "that Damarsene cow," but the ending is worth half a star more so... okay. 3.5, I admit it.Just to round up, four stars.
After an auspicious start, I hit a rough patch at about 25%. The heroine is having a break down, and it's most unpleasant going along for the ride through her narration. From sensible and strong and loyal, Vianne becomes irrational, self-damaging, and ridiculous. She won't eat, and her doubts wou...
2.5/5 starsWhile this story was one that I just had to know the ending to, and while I loved the very natural progression Vianne undergoes from quiet, unassuming lady-in-waiting to an authoritative queen, there was just something overall about this book that missed the mark for me. So what missed t...
4.5 starsit somehow reminded me of reading Dumas. Dumas with magic that is, naturally. Dumas is one of my all time favorite authors so it was a pleasant surprise.Love the story line, the action, the characters up until the end. The end, omg, that was a shock! I felt so taken aback! it was like being...
The story was way too disappointing to warrant more than 2 stars/D+. I honestly thought I would give the overall plot a solid 3 stars because I liked the fantastical world Ms. Saintcrow created but honestly, the ending really killed the book for me. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
You know I love Lili's writing, right? This year she managed to round up nicely two of her series - Jill Kismet and Strange Angels, so I'm eagerly awaiting what she'll come up with next.I loved The Hedgewitch Queen for two reasons - it's a fantasy very much akin to Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder ...
I liked this a lot more than I had thought I would. I did have some problems with it but on the whole this was a very solid fantasy from Saintcrow. The worldbuilding was detailed, the pacing was fine - those are just details but what blew me away was what was revealed at the end. Hot damn. I think t...
This is a fantasy with some romance, but if you are looking for your typical "follow the rules, guaranteed HEA" well, that's not what you'll get here. To be honest, I don't read Saintcrow's books for a guaranteed anything other than I know she is going to throw a ton at her characters, and I will mo...
I noticed the cover of The Hedgewitch Queen, then I saw it was by Lilith Saintcrow, who’s one of my favorite authors. So of course I had to pick it up…drey’s thoughts:The first in an anticipated duology (The Bandit King is due next June), The Hedgewitch Queen is a fast introduction to an orphan girl...
