Tony LaRue had it better than your average teenager. He had Haitian parents that were very successful and an older brother on his way to college. The only problem was that they lived in the most racially divided city in America, "Pettisville, Kansas." The city was once a black owned city with power and money until the Marsh Brothers came and bought it out, slowly dividing it into what it is today. The all white northern part of the city that has the power and money, and the all black southern part that is hanging by a thread. It all seemed tolerable to Tony and his upper-class family until his brother's bravery gets him killed and framed by the police. After their protesting and the inevitable acquittal of the officer, Tony finds that he must become more than just a greaving baby brother. With his hoodie and an ancient voodoo symbol on it, He will become what the Marsh Brothers and the criminal cops and thugs of the city fear more than anything. He will become a black defender of all who is oppressed. He will become, The Hoodlum.
