2/27/13 ** A little too similar to Harry Potter...boy lives in our world, discovers he has magical powers, goes to school, meets fantastical creatures, encounters a school bully, excels at the school sport, defeats evil. However, if you know someone who loved Potter, this is a series worth reading (...
Promising start to the series. Quite enjoyable. There was less mythology than I was hoping for, so that was a bit of a bummer. I certainly hope we get more in the later books. Please??Honestly, I'm too tired to write up a long review. I liked it. It was good. I'll be reading the rest of the series.
The Hound of Rowan is an enjoyable first novel, following in the literary footsteps of many boarding-school stories (magical or otherwise). There are a few rough spots in the writing/storytelling, but overall this is a solid book.
I'm sorry, there were too many HP parallels for me to enjoy it.
