I really enjoyed reading this and am looking forward to reading more of Daphne Du Maurier's work. This one was written later in her life, and whether or not that would be apparent to those who have read her other books, I don't know. But I liked her no fuss, no muss style, which made it an interesti...
Du Maurier at her most deliciously creepy. Time travel to 14th century Cornwall via experimental drugs is just not likely to end well, is it? Lots of twists and surprises. I did find I didn't like the protagonist much, but he gets his in the end, so that's all right.
A novel of psychological suspense. This took me a while to get into. The beginning was slow and a little boring. It's the story of Richard Young who is spending his holiday at the vacation home in Cornwall of his closest friend, Magnus Lane. Richard has arrived at the house a few days ahead of his w...
I read Rebecca in high school and remember it as one of my favorite books. I came across this in the library a few days ago and thought I would pick it up. The writing was good and the story was mostly compelling. There are some conveniences (as always) and the plot was a bit transparent at times...
3-3.5 starsI'm a bit torn on this book... I admit that the only Daphne du Maurier I'd read was "Rebecca". But the idea of a du Maurier novel that included time travel was almost too much to resist.Another reviewer listed within the Goodreads.com review provided an interesting tidbit, which I'll repe...
This book seems like a DdM attempt at Sci-fi. Although it is good, I don't like it, so far, as much as her classic literature, such as Rebecca or My Cousin RachelETA 03/22/11: I stick with my first review that this is a very odd book for DdM, yet it is a very good book which sucked me in...the only ...
"We are all bound, one to the other, through time and eternity"While vacationing at the Cornwall home of old chum Magnus, Richard Young is convinced to act as guinea pig for his friend's latest experiment - a drug that enables the mind to travel into the past - although the body stays in the present...
Originally published in 68, this is drug-induced time travel. I know, right? Not the sort of thing you'd expect from the author of [b:Rebecca|12873|Rebecca|Daphne du Maurier|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41XySD9S7BL._SL75_.jpg|46663], although she did write a tremendous number of extremely...
