It's a good mystery in an unusual setting (Istanbul in the 1830s), with clever twists and turns and occasional flashes of brilliance in the writing. Perhaps a few too many twists, in truth, but on the whole, well worth the read.
I'm not completely familiar with Turkey or the Ottoman Empire or books about one of them. Still, I picked this book at a bookshop, and liked the blurb. I didn't really know what to expect though... But I thought it was an interesting book, I don't know how accurate the book was exactly in the way ...
