October's Mother-Daughter Book Club Selection. If I'd been reading this on my own I think it very likely that I'd have abandoned it early on. But I continued out of obligation and it DID get better. I still never fell in love with it, however. The characters never won me over and it was dull in...

Really disappointing. Too long, not enough action, too wordy. This is supposed to be for 9-12 year olds, but I can't imagine too many at that age willing to put up with so much.
