Sometimes, I don't like Mr. Gregory that much. >_< And I was sooooo shocked that bit about Alice. Maybe that's the reason why I really don't like her too, like Mr. Gregory. :O The way she always nagged Tom to do this and that... Maybe I do have basis for it all.
I thought the book started a little slower than the other books in the series. But, by the end, the pace and storyline really picked up and really has me looking forward to the next four books in the series.
With many series, it's fairly easy to map the course of events for every book before even cracking the spine. You know the hero will follow her or his patterns from previous books.
