Series: Discworld #22 This is one of those Discworld books where my rating doesn't mean much because I've read it so many times that it's gained the status of an old friend. It's basically Rincewind in the Discworld's version of Australia, but it has some great Bursar moments as well general wizar...
The Last Continent is the sixth book in the Rincewind subseries of Discworld. For me, this was one of the more average Discworld books. I don’t normally fall asleep while reading, but the cat and I took a few short naps while reading this book. :) Rincewind has accidentally become stranded in a ...
Once again Rincewind is running for his life and saving the day as a byproduct, but this time he gets to be drunk so no worries. The Last Continent is Terry Pratchett’s 22nd installment of Discworld, the sixth to feature his first main character (Rincewind), is the location that most of the action ...
I have to say that when I have read books, or seen TV episodes, by people from foreign parts where they try to satirise Australia I have generally been either unimpressed, or downright insulted (as was the case with the Simpsons Episode where the Simpsons come to Australia, act like a bunch of jerks...
This is a book I picked up on sale. I have some missing DiscWorld books. I do this deliberately so that I could always leave with a new book when I visit a bookshop. So, 100 pages in. This is interesting. Rincewind is in trouble because he is lost in a desert. But able to find food. The food h...
10th Discworld book read with my husband, and probably my favorite since we've started.Rincewind's been my favorite of the reoccurring characters. I'm very sad this is his last book. In my head, he's gone back to the Agatean Empire to live with his true love, Twoflower, forever and ever.
This one rang all the right bells for me, with Rincewind once again being the butt of a joke being played by the multiverse. He's trapped in a vast red desert without food, without water, and sans The Luggage. And his diet of sparse water and the occanssional grub doesn't get better when a smart tal...
Rincewind, ugh. I was ready to really dislike this book despite the fact it has the Luggage and the Unseen University faculty but for once Rincewind almost redeems himself. The shame of it all is the parody of Australia was what ruined it for me.There's enough good material and a couple of Death cam...
Enjoyed this a lot. Have to remember the indigenous people of Australia are still suffering with very little let up - but I picked it up from the library for an easy read when I had a cold and so I can't complain it doesn't deal with issues.
