Even though I liked the well written noir gumshoe feel of this story, the romance was a wash. I just didn't feel it, the main character was a HUGE alcoholic and didn't want help from anyone. He doesn't like himself, can't forgive himself and most of the time he wants to die. How can you love someone...
I love the classic noir feeling of this story. The characters, plot, and setting work so well to build and maintain this feeling, and I hope to read more about them at another time.
