This book is not worth reading. If you are considering it, just know that after reading 640 pages, you still don't find out who murdered Robin Cleve Dufresnes. You are stuck jumping around to a myriad of characters with no real ending in sight. When you do get to the end you are going to want to thr...

This is not a proper "review" of the book The Little Friend, but I do want to register with all possible emphasis and enthusiasm what is clearly a minority view of it: This is Donna Tartt's best novel. Hear me out, please. Yes, I've read all three of her books, and I've enjoyed all of them quite a...

I was beginning to think I'd never see the end of this book. This is the third book I've read by Donna Tartt and I'm sad to say it's my least favorite. Definitely not up to par with The Secret History and The Goldfinch both of which I thought were excellent. This story takes place in Mississippi ...

Busy with birthdays, but this review will be up as soon as all these kids stop celebrating their existence. (My son's b-day is today, and my daughter's is on the 7th). Yep. I'm broke.

I much preferred this to The Secret History. I liked the ambiguous ending, and the central character is a brilliant creation, a plucky little girl with a convincing narrative voice. Loved it.

Disappointing given how much I loved The Secret History, but definitely a breezy read.

This book was a bit of a challenge but definitely worth it. The first 1/3 of the novel was really tough going but it's worth perservering. It's a bleak story and both the setting of the novel and the writing are opressive. However, it's a novel I have found often in my thoughts since reading it.
