It is not really possible to re-read a book, just as it is not really possible to step into the same river twice. The next time, one's thinking is going to be entirely different. I have read "LoTR" half a dozen times. Each has been different. I think Heraclitus even said you couldn't step into the s...

This might be sacrilege but The Lord of the Rings is not the best book in the world. Highly influential, yes. Important, yes. Groundbreaking, sure. But Pratchett was correct when he said that if you still think it is the best book in the world than you haven’t been reading enough.Yet, despite its fl...

So apologies up front since I am going to have to break this review up in order to talk about all three books. I am glad that I managed to finish it this weekend. I just put my head down and got through it the past couple of days. Once I stopped comparing these books to the Peter Jackson films I was...

Tolkien is a major writer of fantasy. I remember watching his amazing trilogy Lord of the Rings long time ago, and I still remember how much I liked it. Now I finished reading his trilogy and I feel nostalgic! Probably I'm gonna watch the movies again tonight!I loved the books. Recommended :)

A History Nut's Romantic State of Mind
How is it that I have never reviewed this book? There is nothing I could say to do justice to this book. I love myself a great fantasy world and this book is PERFECT. It has got history, characterization, imagination, loyalty, love, betrayal, all the heavy stuff. Classic indeed.

Anyone who knows me knows I am OBSESSED with the Lord of the Rings. These stories literally changed my life and touched me in ways no other stories ever have. Friendship, bravery, inner strength—there are so many lessons to be found in these books and I will always hold the works of Tolkien close to...

Originally read November 2013 As somebody who claims that Fantasy is my favorite genre, it feels sacrilegious to only give this series three stars. If I'd read it when I was younger, or at least before I had begun reading modern fantasy regularly, I think I'd have enjoyed it more. Part of my pro...

I love Tolkien! One of my favorite fantasy books. I really loved how Tolkien portrayed the Middle Earth land. And the language is so so creative!
