I enjoyed this one because it's so weird lol. Is it supposed to be suspenseful or some type of comedy? *Shrugs*

The romantic story of hunting for a lost jewel and the rough hard-boiled detective don't go well together. I kept expecting a note of common sense to appear, as for example, it would be real fun if the gambler's war theory turned out to be true, and all the trappings were just so much dramatic fakes...

THE MALTESE FALCON - In his best known book, Dashiell Hammett pens the stylish Sam Spade, protagonist of The Maltese Falcon. He’s tough enough to stand up to thugs or the police. He smells trouble when a buxom dame breezes into his office. Soon enough, his entire world will be turned upside down. Ha...

Sam Spade is a street-smart protagonist with a nose for solving crimes and an eye for the ladies, but nothing touches his heart of stone. Not even the quest for a black statue of a falcon that is a priceless treasure, and the beautiful damsel in distress it brings into his life. What starts as a simp...

~~moved from GR~~ The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett Like Raymond Chandler, I have to give Dashiell Hammett credit for essentially creating one of my favourite genres: hardboiled detective/noir. In addition, Hammett's account has much more factual basis than Chandler's, as Hammett could dra...

As soon as I finished this, I looked up "Sam Spade," the detective protagonist of this novel, on the internet to find out if he was in any other novels by Hammett, and was disappointed to find out the answer was "no." (Although he appears in an authorized prequel by Gores, Spade and Archer, and 3 sh...
