Old-fashioned. Motionless. Dialectic. Speculative.Overall, a disappointment. This novel revolves around nothing for around 200 pages, but it is a treaty on scholar mannerism, bandwagoning diplomacy and political gossiping. If you like the subject, CP Snow knew what he was writing about.
