"The Mermaid's Madness" is the second book in this series about three princesses who aren't quite the ones you know from the fairytales and the Disney movies. The first book, "The Stepsister Scheme" brought together Snow White and Sleeping Beauty as agents of Cinderella's new mother-in-law, the Quee...

Jim C. Hines does a great job with retellings. He twisted the tale of the little mermaid into such an amazing story. There were so many twists and turns in this book. At some points I had no idea who to trust and who to believe. I love it when books make me feel this way. I can't wait to read t...

Though it might have something to do with my utter fascination and love for all things mermaids, I loved this book. For as good as the first book in this series was, The Mermaid's Madness was twice as good. I felt the characters were even richer, with them already being established, and the plot was ...

Cracking good fun, lady heroes. I don't regret that I stopped reading SF/F in the late Nineties, but I wouldn't have stopped if there had been a lot more like this.

Yuck. Hines is still a master with setting, but the characters have become sort of cookie cutter - one is responsible, one's flirty, one's angry. It's getting old. Prince Armand, who we meet here for the first time, is a pompous jerk. I have no idea what Cinderella sees in him. More irritating still...
