The topic of John Steinbeck's final novel is amazingly acute today although it was first published more than fifty years ago... it's a novel revolving around morals in a money-centred modern world. I very much enjoyed this novel. A study in morality, it is both humorous and heart breaking. Steinbeck is a true master of his art. An absolutely perfect piece.

I am not sure John Steinbeck would approve of my saying this but to me his books are comfort reads. Not because his books set out to fill me with a warm fuzzy feeling. And not because Steinbeck's protagonists are shining examples of successful individuals who are something to aspire to. Steinbeck...

Since this is propaganda, I wasn't sure about reading this. I'm suspicious of anything written for political reasons, but this got such good reviews that I figured I'd try it. The setting is left vague, hinting at European background. The town is small, with a man-of-the-people as their mayor a...

Last novel for Steinbeck, cynical and ever more unbelievable, without the passion for wet fields which can so often send him flying into the corn.
