I cannot believe I've never read these books before now. This book was published one year after I was born. I've heard about them for ages. Anyway, I was thoroughly charmed by this book, and by Amelia, Emerson, Evelyn, and Walter. Amelia, though, in particular. I utterly adored her voice. I have...

Series: Amelia Peabody #1 I didn’t like the tone this book started off with, and I found Amelia really annoying, at least at the start. She grew on me once she picked up Evelyn as a companion, however. I did like their interactions. Amelia, a rich Englishwoman, has travelled to Rome from where she...

An absolutely charming book! I'm so glad I listened to this. Amelia is no-nonsense and I love it! She and Emerson definitely get OTP status.A great cast of characters and a wonderful setting.

Peabody and Emerson are hoping for a quiet dig season, but with their son Ramses along for the ride, nothing is going to be quiet.. ever! As soon as they get to Cairo, they are embroiled in a new mystery and Amelia is sure that there is a master criminal afoot. After two murders and some mysterious ...

I was surprised at how young the narrator [author:Susan O'Malley|1361285] was when she recorded this because she did really well with a middle aged woman (in her 30s - which I consider extremely young). The story itself was not my favorite. The main character Amelia thinks that because she would f...

I'm having a hard time with this one. I don't know if it's just my mood, but it isn't holding my interest and to be honest I find Amelia's personality a little off-putting so far. I'm going to put it aside for now and maybe come back to it later.

Intrepid Victorian spinster Amelia Peabody travels to Egypt after her father's death, determined to explore the world and see the treasures she's read about for so many years. On her way through Rome, she is forced to send her companion home, but meets a lovely young lady in distress, and they strik...

I thought the actual mystery wasn't that great but I enjoyed the rest of the dialogue between Emerson, Peabody & Ramses especially. I think he is so adorable and it's a nice unique character to add to the storyline. I was also glad to see Peabody didn't have as many accidents trying to apprehend int...

I think that was more to do with the annoying narrator though. So just recently i decided to read the Vicky Bliss series and i absolutely loved it and...

This book went off to a bit of a slow start, but it was a nice introduction to Amelia and how she came to be. I enjoy her character, she stands out in Victorian society, she’s strong willed and fiercely independent. Evelyn comes along later in the plot and she’s the complete opposite. Yet the two ar...
